Should i get the game or is gearbox gonna F*ck this one up too?

Gearbox can't do anything with RoRR, it belongs to Hopoo. So we can rest assured that the game will be fine :)

they are not done, its just that they cannot push updates because "gearbox publishing" no longer exists so they have no one to publish the update with

until take 2, the company that purchased gearbox, tells them what to do, they cant publish any updates

The game belongs to Hopoo but the IP belongs to Gearbox, Hopoo games is shutting down so Hopoo won't update it, and I highly doubt Gearbox will touch it, The DLC to ROR 2 is fun, the code base being unified in the way it was is what made the expansion seem horrible.

The founders of Hopoo Games have literally said they're closing down to work for Valve.

Yea going to be honest, the likelihood of hopoo games coming back together is... low, to say the least, unless this is essentially just contract work (but if it was, then why not keep their own company)
Not impossible, but well theres not much of a reason to hold breath. And as said above, there is also practically zero chance that this gets another update pushed to it by this point as well with hopoo dissolving and gearbox publishing non-existent apparently.

Gearbox (or Take two) already screwed this game over by removing any potential to actually let this game get more updates and even that mod support that many people wanted. No more potential growth.

Modding exist now and it is already in a good state with over 100 mods already released and the official starstorm port being worked on
