Anybody else getting magically oneshot by providence?

Happened to my friend and I while we were playing last night 3 times (me twice them once) BOTH runs were looped with command on there was absolutely no way we were dying and he was getting his ass kicked. The first one happened as/after he died and the others were during the final stage. All at full health, seemed to happen with a screen flash each time?

(The second time I was getting hard carried because they were playing drifter with several duplicators so i asked to fight providence by myself, so they were also standing away from the boss not getting hit)

providence has 1 attack where he will always set you to 1 hp, maybe you were getting hit by that?

Providence has black attacks that set your hp to exactly 1 on hit. He also summons a clone that only uses black attacks. You're probably getting hit by those.

Yeah what everyone else said. It's a mechanic that carried over from RoR1. Providence is pretty weak compared to teleporter bosses you would encounter doing continuous loop runs so to balance things out in case the player comes at him with a god-run collection, he has special shadow attacks that drop you immediately to 1hp.
