thoughts on worst pickup item?
i've collected probably 80-90% of available items but none are as bad as the dead man's foot, especially for a green slot.

at least the timekeeper can get you out of a low health situation in early loops, but i have never noticed the poison pool from the foot once.

it doesnt make a poison pool its basically a dot version of panic mines as far as i know. same trigger conditions as well. which makes it good on engi turrets since they love to poop those mines out. voltaic glove is pretty trash, though not useless. bustling fungus is hardly useable since you cant attack while its active. and clover, probably isnt bad but the amount of times i get it and get zero or only 1 item from it infuriates me

Bustling Fungus is one of the strongest healing item in the game, it outshines any other healing item in power.

For me Razor penny I would avoid most of the time for any other item, 3% crit chance and 1$ per hit on enemy that doesn't scale with time. So that money on hit is only good on the very first stage.

The clover seems to be made for Honor Artifact and long runs.

Dead mans foot does proc, for me the worst item in the game is the Headstompers.

Harpoon. Of all items that gives you speed, this one is the worst. You have to kill stuff to get speed and it's only temporary. For some reason it exists as a green item even though it would have been better if it gave you extra temporary damage, attack speed or some other buff/debuff instead of movement speed. It doesn't serve any purpose other than to be extremely unreliable with speed, but hey, you can fix that by getting more Harpoons! Then the speed will last a second longer.

Heck, even what people consider to be the dumbest, weakest or worst items, at least you can still reliably use it in certain situations that they're possibly designed for. Harpoon? It's just there. Maybe you can use with glass artifact, but that can still bite you in the rear, either by not getting a kill fast enough, getting too many kills, or the fact that it only lasts for a short amount of time.

I havent unlocked razor penny but yeah 3% doesnt sound great. I know that bustling fungus, because of the percent based regeneration makes it incredibly strong (when its working). but you have to stop for 2 whole seconds to make it even activate. When outside of stage 1, the gap between final boss phase 3 and 4, and during unstable watch can you reliably ever stop for that long without dying?
i still think voltaic glove is up there above penny though just from the sound of it

Its funny because i actually quite like harpoon in Risk of Rain 2, and it functions exactly the same. but the lack of that 3rd dimension and the fact that the speed increase can screw up platforming makes it feel so awkward in this game

Decaying Sample on a melee character is good because those orbs do 100% damage at default and damage enemies every 0.25 seconds. It gets 50% more damage per stack. Those Stone titans will take a lot of damage from it.

Get 20+ 56 Leaf Clovers and enemies start to drop a lot of items. It starts low but you can stack it a lot and it'll add up. Unlike Risk of Rain 2, it doesn't have a limit. Or at least none that it mentions of.

Ceremonial dagger is far more useful than a lot of the red items. It's guarantee to activate which makes it useful. You wipe out a small group in one shot? 20+ projectiles that will seek out other targets.

Activated a lot of shrine of the mountain and teleporter spawns normal elite enemies? It'll just spawn so many daggers that it'll wipe out the rest. If they spawn on different platforms.

For my choices on the items.

White:
Razor penny.
Spike Trip

Green
Panic Mines
Dead Mans foot
Harpoon

Red
Photon Jetpack
Shattering Justice
Old Box

im surprised no one mentioned snake eyes yet. sure, razor penny isn't much, but it's still a consistent source of crit chance. meanwhile, snake eyes has less crit chance than lens (7% + 7% per stack instead of 10% + 7%) AND it only works after you fail a shrine.
that + voltaic mitt are undoubtedly the worst items in the game

Ye snake eyes are ♥♥♥♥ too. 56 Leaf Clover (1) is underpowered. Chance should be increased, even if that means it should be moved to red tier.

Headstompers. It does way too little damage and I'd rather stack any other item than build stacks for that.

the leaf clover doesn't have much value pre-loop, at best it'll net you like 1-2 extra items (which to be fair is still enough to offset finding it in the first place), but post-loop elite spawns are far more common, so you start getting a LOT more items from it

Compare Decaying Sample to Frost Relic and Chargefield Generator and you might see my point. It's up all the time, but it's RNG if it even works at all. Most of the time I have it, it ticks like once on one enemy, exciting.

Your point here is basically, "just use command lol." Stacking 56 Leaf Clover is horrible too since it increases the chance by a whole 1.5%. Compare this item to Captain's Brooch and Substandard Duplicator and you might see what I'm talking about. You need two items from 56 Leaf Clover to get any kind of value out of it.

Whooo! 400% non AOE damage on kill! Fireworks deal 1800% damage, DML does 3600% damage, and Nematocyst Nozzle does 2400% damage with AOE.

Lense Maker's Glasses stack for 7% crit. If you're not rushing tp, Snake Eyes will be superior to any other crit item as long as there is a shrine you can fail twice.

are you actively insane?
Yes.

No one has yet mentioned the Interstellar Desk Plant, which I think is a very underwhelming item for its shipping class.

It is kind of like a fancier Meat Nugget, which isn't a great item either... but I would probably place Voltaic Mitts further below that, since it only really does work against hordes of enemies that can climb or keep up with you.

Snake Eyes does absolutely nothing on certain stages without sacrificing health, and on the Contact Light it cannot do anything at all. It's not too bad if you get a couple stacks at least though, so while looping and hoarding other crit items, it can work.

Now I'm also curious what people think is the least useful equipment item is.

Personally I think Bob's Rotten Brain can even outperform the Golden Bomb, since it takes so long to blow up, and doesn't seem to scale its damage with money that well half the time. I just cannot line it up for a good explosion, whatever I do. I'd even say the Voodoo Doll is a pretty bad trade for what it does to *one* enemy, but against Providence it shows some merit. The toolbox also feels like a waste of a better equipment item most of the time, especially if you run out of drones, as one often does while looping...
in some ways it is difficult to pick a definitive worst.
