so im not sure if you also experience this but theres a TON of public lobbies where i just get kicked after joining for no apparent reason

Where the heck is the kick function? In ROR2 it was locked behind console commands (and in OG ROR it just wasn't a thing). Did it say you were kicked or was it just some general disconnect message?

I just see people rage quitting rooms when they die even on drizzle so now I am host only and don't join pubs.

It may not be rage quitting. They probably simply understand that if you die even once in a multiplayer game it's practically over for you. Nobody will share items, and without them you're basically in a continuous loop of dying the moment people go to the next stage.

There is no kick function I believe. The host either left, or you lost connection. It's also entirely possible you joined a lobby that already played a round and the host wanted to stop playing.

then the strange thing is most servers are fine, some just drop me then for no reason
