Does looping give you different levels like in RoR2?

I'm trying to get the Huntress alt primary, but PLEASE tell me that looping will give me alternate levels because there is no way I have the patience to rely on RNG to get Sunken Depths AND Magma Barracks *AND* the correct variant of Magma Barracks with Direseeker in order to actually run into the "hidden bosses" (I swear I've restarted runs four times now and I always. get. effing. Ancient. Tundra. on the third level). Because so far this has been beyond irritating.

You can change the settings to disable new environments, meaning you'll only encounter the environments from OG ROR (which includes the correct variants for Acrid and Direseeker), then from there it's just Providence.
Otherwise you're missing out on the Cognation Golem in a new variant of Desolate Forest (but there's like 6 variations anyways).

I've actually heard that the boss located at Boar Beach accessible through the tundra level counts toward the Huntress's hidden boss requirement, so this could save you a lot of time if the game likes to give you the Ancient Valley instead of the water level. Someone correct me if that's wrong. If you don't know how to get to Boar Beach, look it up. I actually didn't know it was a thing in the original game until just before Returns came out.

Otherwise, as Heavylicious said, disabling New Stages makes it a lot easier to get the stage variants you need. I had to do this to get the achievement myself.

I don't think Boar beach is in fact true. I've repeatedly opted for the pattern of the following 3 bosses:
1. Acrid
2. Boar Beach (unique boss?)
3. Providence
. . . in the hope of getting the primary but it never works. I was eventually able to get it as the achievement procced against providence last phase with different uniques, so I can only assume that #2 is false, or there is some conflict with Acrid somehow.

What I did instead was unlock the Artifact of Origin, which spawns a unique Imp Vanguard every 10 minutes, which I can confirm does count.

This made the achievement verrry easy after that, as I did find Acrid on that run, and Providence is a freebie.

If anyone still struggling to unlock Huntress' alternate primary, then I can highly recommend getting the artifacts out of the way. It makes this so much easier, and the Artifact of Origin is pretty much only a benefit to enable in all of your runs.

Thanks for the clarification. That's a shame then about Boar Beach, but the imp summon with Origin counting is great to know as it's basically free. Wish I knew about that before I went for the achievement.

You only need to find 1 special boss.
Providence's Gilded Wurms count as unique, and there's 2 of them.
That's how I got the challenge without even trying.

Yes, it comes down to basically RNG, just don't forget that some stages can only occur with which of which section of the level you are on, so only a few maps roll for said section, where the temple is pretty much a guarantee every time, even though going to the boss is optional otherwise without needing to specifically be at the temple in question to do so
