Save and quit
rorr desperately needs save and quit option. Sometimes the runs can get over hour long (especially if you are revisiting levels) and when I have to leave my pc, I have to basically surrender my run! Not very fun tbh

So you are not gonna like this, but we asked for this all the way back in 2013 when it first came out. Devs where against it and we asked for it again in Risk of Rain 2, They did not add it to that. Thankfully we could actually mod the game to add a save feature and be able to rejoin lobbies.

So chances of this game getting a save and quit is not likely. Believe the main reason was "You can abuse it". Which is pretty silly due to we can run 200% dmg and 10% damage taken on any difficulty.

Thats... how can you abuse save that holds a single run? Even if you can somehow, its a singleplayer game, who cares? Also co-op run saving seems less useful but I guess some people would use it. I do want a save mod though...

I have the say the excuse of it can be abused is just not true. There are alot of games that are roguelikes/rouguelites that have save systems that erase the moment you die or erase the moment you load it. They just need a save system that lets you save and quit and when you load its they start of the same level you left on or if they can right at the moment you quit which would prevent people from trying to reset the level.

Exactly my thoughts. Just let me save the game and quit. When i come back i come to the exact moment i left. If I die or start a new run, the save gets erased. That simple. :B1:

Well the abuse could come from locating the save file, make a backup of it and when you die you just paste it back in and continue on the file. But yes I agree it is a bad reason for not having it.

Believe also it was against their design of the game. They wanted short games and didn't really want people to just go on forever.

Yeah, neither game is ever gonna get it and it's really frustrating.

I don't play them as much due to that. Sometimes something crashes or power goes out or i have to do something for hours IRL, and imo any game that doesn't let you save is kind of bad by default. It's 2023, we all have plenty of space for save files.

So best i got is just avoid playing unless you know you'll be able to stay on the game for an hour or two. Maybe a mod will come out later on that fixes it, but only time will tell.

well yeah, but that applies to every game lmao

but it's a singleplayer game so it doesn't really matter imo.
