On the Switch, you can hit the Home button twice and it freezes the game so you can adjust the zoom EXACTLY as you'd like on fly. Just like OP wants. This is a Nintendo feature of course, and "isn't intended by the devs."
But let's think about that entitlement on their part for a second. And their whole despicable "we don't owe you anything" thing. No one owes you money either. Pulling the zoom out this far causes eye strain in most humans. If that is your "artistic intent," you're just stupid and arrogant.
That's why I got the Switch version. So I could relieve my eye strain in a way the developers didn't intend. Thanks guys!
Not that I'm saying we shouldn't have a zoom toggle or anything, but like, if it causes you eye strain, zoom in. If it doesn't, don't.
Still a wide FOV but a bit easier on the eye.
