Never saw that feature being advertised anywhere. Never heard about it either, there's nothing in the game that tells you about it too. Pretty simple conclusion: you've been bamboozled.

It might just be an assumption. In the credits it shows all the old vs new sprites for enemies and enemies that were added in RORR have demake sprites in the style of the original. If there is a way to swap the graphics tho, I would love to know about it. Would be a neat little thing to fool around with. As it stand though I have heard nothing about it actually being in the game.

I think that would be tough since there are a lot of new art that was introduced to Returns.
