More impact than ror2, too.
Commando is and has always been mid tier though. That's his design intent from the start. He does little better than other classes save for basic attack speed, but he doesn't really have any significant drawbacks either.
he struggles bad if he doesnt get the right items soon enough and especially is vulnerable to flying mobs without the gear necessary to survive them
meanwhile others like bandit, pilot, and merc just eviscerate the mobs super quick with no effort regardless of items
hes def on the weaker end
That said, his alternate skills are really good, I'd say they put him a bit above average, though the skill floor is a bit higher. Using his alternate mobility skill, you can slide AND attack at the same time, which is how you make use of his combat knife skill without getting hit yourself. Slide past enemies, knife them as you do, then turn around and shotgun blast. REALLY satisfying and powerful combo.
You can't really mix-match his skills very well, though, each set of skills seems custom-made for itself.
