Tips for Monsoon
Hi all,

Struggling with getting past level 3/4 on Monsoon. Anybody have any tips?

Typically try to keep between 3-4 minutes per stage and rush TP. Only time I would push to 5 is if I can't find TP or items justify staying longer.

Playing with Commando almost exclusively. Don't want to do Artifact of Command cheese, just looking to beat game on hardest difficulty and still haven't managed to do so 100 runs in.

I have a fair amount of experience in RLs and also beat RoR 2 on Monsoon, so not entirely a nub.

Help a fellow struggling gamer who's tired of the snarky GAME OVER screen comments in RoR RE...

Couple of drones (especially healing ones) can make big difference on early stages.
For Commando, you really need good items to not fail dps check that comes with time scaling. Though 1-2 on-hit items with his default secondary and shotgun will proc like crazy.

So you're saying spend more time in areas to get items since the class is very item dependent? I'll see if I can't stretch my window to 4-5 minutes and see how that goes.

- Learn stages and how to look for teleporters efficiently.
- Don't linger on stages longer than necessary, walking back two minutes to pick up a chest you left behind is not worth it.
- On the other end of this: rushing the teleporter and leaving the stage with next to no items gained is not a good strategy either. You need items to scale up with the difficulty.
- On Monsoon, if after the first two stages you feel like you're already falling behind, it's probably best to just reset.

What helped for me is finding the teleporter ASAP, and while its charging, kill the boss and look for nearby loot. This doesnt work in every situation obviously (Especially that snow map, that one stinks), but it works pretty well overall, especially on the first two stages.
Also dont undervalue healing in this game. Healing is much more important in this game than ROR2.

For me to beat the game with commando i ended up getting a couple reds on the first floor, super high rolling. I had shotgun, beam, and the tactical slide. The shotgun lets you do good on dps checks since each "pellet" can trigger your items, letting you get some really good burst damage in. Then you kite with your slide, shooting wherever there are enemies, then using the beam to sweep the horde that just spawned. Rinse and repeat, if you have sacrifice that might help you too, maybe.

Thanks for all the tips lads - 139 failed runs and still counting.

I'll come back here when I've hit the first W.
Haven't even made it to the final stage yet. RNG on Commando feels really high though I'm pretty sure I'm suffering due to skill too.

I've tried rushing teleporter and a slower style but always end up dead. Either due to pesky enemy types (esp. those that fly) or eventually falling behind the damage curve.

Going to stick to Shotgun, Beam and Tactical Slide whilst rushing TP for a while and seeing where it gets me. Might shift to another Character if I don't hit it on Commando in next 60 or so runs.

Commando is super item dependent. Bleed, crit, attack speed and other proc-centric items are your best friend. Also, stage rushing is actually worse than full looting in nearly every case, especially on commando. You just need to be looting fast. Aim for an item every 45 seconds or so, but more is pretty doable. Having lots of decent items, especially good ones will always outscale enemy difficulty scaling. Make use of scrappers and printers too because they're pretty useful for ensuring good items.
