That said, the game is still way harder than 2, without any question. The reason why early game is so easy i think is because many of the big bread and butter items are unlocked right off the bat, like most of the red items for example.
Theres also more forgiveness in a few mechanics, like rope climbing (thank god) and a few other things. But even with all of this, the game is still going to stomp you into the dirt and laugh while doing it.
Next, there are "QoL" changes, like some ranged characters allowed to fire and move now (with considerable slowdown, of course), C-shaped instancing instead of I-shaped on Enforcer's shield and so on. At the same time, some cheese got fixed as well (like Bandit's infinite invisibility).
All in one, RoRR is expanded and more accessible RoR1.
Engineer fungus? nerf
Sacrifice artifact ? nerf
Glass + infusion ? nerf
damn..
However, there's a sort of "bonus" mode (Providence Trials) that has a good deal of items locked behind it, but you can NOT change the difficulty in those AT ALL. And they're tailored towards way above average players.
Majority of Providence Trials items can be unlocked in the main gameloop. You can hover over ability at character's window to confirm there is "or" for every Skill. As for the items, simply don't know if they are Trials exclussive or not.
