What do you mean by this? The game is still available on steam? If they had actually removed it I would have been mad, the original is still moddable with stuff like Starstorm.

1. The original game is still in the store. It has a (2013) tag on it.
2. This game melds a lot of items and even characters from RoR2 into the game. It's essentially a third game in all but name and the final boss. Speaking of Providence. His new fight is FANTASTIC. That final phase is new and insane.
3. RoR2 was also published by Gearbox. Did you skip that game as well? Gearbox owns the IP now, and as much as I would have rathered Hopoo keep and expand the IP, this is more of a send off from them than we could have ever expected.
This response was mostly good overall. I updated the original post to bold out the point of the bullet, as a 2d sequel would've been better than a remake of ror1 if patching isn't feasible. I stand by that.
I found out after the fact - but the original doesn't show up under quicksearch - which is what led to my premature conclusion that it was gone. I've corrected the original post.
Yep, I found out after and made a correction to the original post. It still doesn't show up under quick search - unsure if intentional.
What do you mean send-off? Are they done with the IP?
Now they've learned so much and they can apply all they've learned to the remake, which includes proper netcode. I know there's other issues that people have brought up, but... Hey, at least we have actual multiplayer netcode and it's not hamachi central anymore. They can only improve the game from here.
Hopoo does not own the IP anymore so yes
Why wouldn't Gearbox contract them to continue making more? (Besides the obvious Gearbox being Gearbox reasons)
