co-op balancing/QOL still nonexistent
the most (personally) frustrating thing in ror is falling behind because someone keeps walking over items. at least in ror2, boss items came out of the teleporter, and you could simply Walk Around Items. in rorr, you're at the mercy of items dropping wherever the bosses die (/ wherever the chests spawn) and can't simply walk around items.

it'd be nice if there were at least a setting requiring an additional Interact action to pick up items. It'd be even nicer if we could ping again in kb+m controls, or even be able to drop (some) items for other players that we don't need - it's such a pain needing to mod in what feels like basic co-op options to keep things relatively balanced and fun. it's simply not fun to go through the usual "one player snowballs and everyone else watches a single player game for 30-40 minutes" process in most runs.

in ror2 it felt like this could mostly be mitigated by better team communication and pinging. in 2d, you just can't avoid picking up items sometimes (and it's easier to also just not see items and walk over them while kiting, which is fine in a vacuum).

once again feels like the game is largely meant to be played solo and has the co-op stapled on without much thought. the co-op honestly feels like a step back from ror2 co-op, specifically because it's just ror1 co-op but with a better netcode layer (which it did desperately need, but that was only the biggest issue, not the only issue)

Absolutely in agreement with this.

In the Orignal you needed to press E to pick up a item idk why they changed that

I agree 100%!

9 our of 10 games with my 4 friends last night ended in my whole team watching me play for 30+ minutes - snowballing - until everyone got really frustrated and quit

I'd actually say it's kinda better. The robot mode, what you are when you die, can loot items. That does fix one old problem.

Pressing 'e' would be great.

also a bit tangentially related to this, it's really goofy that the alternate sniper primary unlock condition is 'complete three stages without picking up any items/equipment' when you can't simply Not Pick Up items

i'm just kinda annoyed that a boss imp teleported onto me and dropped an item directly onto me and ruined an attempt - like, even if we can't get item dropping or sharing as a first party thing, at *least* let us have item pickup confirming be a thing again.

(i'm still very much of the opinion that like.... unless your friends are already big ROR-heads who know what every single item & synergy is, you're gonna run into problems that could mostly be solved by "drop last item i picked up". make it have a gold cost if you must but. man. game could be way friendlier to casuals in co-op without having to always drop down to drizzle....)

it definitely helps that the robots *can* do that if they don't die, but you still can't interact with anything and are dependent on living players to funnel items to you. which like, works, but on later levels the drones themselves are so squishy that it just doesn't matter much i think.

I'd prefer if they didn't do damage + took less/no damage, and just looted tbh.

They do less than nothing (which is good). Their ability to scout is nice though.

yeah - the damage they can do is kinda.... pointless? it's like trying to put out a fire with a pool noodle that's been soaked in gasoline. If they couldn't be damaged but could still loot/interact with stuff I think it'd generally be fantastic!

it's so nice being able to just park a drone on the teleporter and say that that's where it is, since it's.... basically the closest thing to pinging that we have now.

Yeah, RORR desperately needs pickup confirmation and ping. Add those and the game is basically perfect.
