Risk of Rain 2 vs Returns
I own RoR2 and i completly suck at it because i barelly know how to play, but i like the style of the game.

How does this one differ from it? Is it easier to know what "to do"? Or this is just basically the same but in "2D"?
Asking this because i might ending up buying it.
Thanks in advance.

They are quite different aside from the base game loop and a lot of character abilities. This one requires other skills instead of aiming but if you struggle with dealing with the progression and items it may be confusing in the same way.

If you have basic platforming skills you should be fine with this one. The concept is the same and I think the 2D RoR format is easier than 3D.

i disagree. i would say RoR2 are easier than RoR1 and RoRR combined because RoR2 are 3D, and theres more space to run around in the 3D open world of RoR2 than in RoR.

the moment to moment gameplay is easier in terms of what you have to think about in terms of moving and aiming, its easier to cheese enemies too. its a lot harder to avoid damage in 1 than 2 though, you need to learn to use your dodge skills effectively and learn to jump to dodge (you can avoid a lot of attacks just by jumping at the right time). compared to ror2 where you can avoid stuff a lot easier with proper strafing / circling etc. I think 1 is slightly harder but I play a lot of fps games so the aiming and movement in 2 feels a lot easier. returns has a lot of options for difficulty scaling though, not only the 3 modes, but you can adjust the damage you do and the damage enemies do. Also I'd say that drizzle in RoR1 is much more the "normal" difficulty despite rainstorm being the default in both games.

RoR2 is a much easier game until you get mystically 1 shot. (1 shot protection is useless) If you lack basic platforming skills you are going to have a bad time. If you stick through it, it's an amazing game for how simple it is.

I have to wonder how long you tried. (not judging). Its very simple gameplay/controls. It mainly varies between each character so find the one you like most and try to get used to making the best of their features. They're all similar and all very good. But...

Like most games, more practice = more skill. So do that.
You also need a bit of luck when it comes to random power ups, but again the more you play, the more you'll know what helps and will find your favorites.
There is also an artifact you can find that will allow you to choose specific items each time

Don't worry about dying a lot. Part of the fun is surviving as the odds grow against you. Eventually you'll get through it. Replay value of RoR games is very high.

This. The 2D format is 1000% easier, as you don't have to think in an extra dimensional space, you can focus on what's on screen, not what's behind your camera killing you off-screen.

but we as people that already view things similarly as those in 3d games are already used to a 3d format, so this is a non issue. Moving in 3d isn't hard unless you have never played a 3d game before.
