Same problem here with a Vive Pro I got the first spell by swinging crazy left right.
But the second one to rise my arm doesn't do anything so far.
I came here to post about and found your post...
Now that I'm sure others are seeing this, I will select to skip the tutorial, seems to be a glitch right there and hopefully fixed soon.
For the second spell you have to use the mace (left weapon) and raise it above your head while holding the trigger, optionally pointing at the enemy after the weapon is charged overhead.
For the third spell you have to use the sword (right weapon) charge it and push it forward to dash.
Yep, and I did all but only the first one works with the staff.
To give an update to everyone, during normal gameplay the gestures work, The staff spell works alwasy, the mace spell works 50% of the times and the sword spell works 25% of the time.
Well at least it works in gameplay. I'll try skipping the tutorial, but I can't imagine releasing something that I knew was broken like that.
Yet they still release the game with a broken tutorial. While the game is visually pleasing, the rest feels clunky. Instead of fixing the tutorial, they put the option to skip the spell tutorial witch tells me they knew it was broken and took the time to make the message but not fix the problem.
Huge bummer, was looking forward to this one.
Use the tutorial to see how the spells work.
Also, many of my hits seem to go right through the enemies and is there a toggle for gripping so I don't have to grip the controller constantly?
What's weird is just after this I tried the Wizards game from the same developer (I think) and that's a delight. Casting spells left and right and it works perfectly, makes you feel like a real mage pulling fireballs out of thin air or the bow gesture that turns into a blade is so awesome, along with the shield, very doctor strangey. :) So it's puzzling that they were able to create such a cool gesture based magic system in that game and it just doesn't work in this one.
