The LEA alias has a passive ability for increased county occupation if the officer is leading the army unit. This really does speed up your occupation rate, decreasing damage from those fortresses and makes your invasion faster. It's even faster if you're playing as the Oda with their unique policy up. I don't remember the STR alias, but I'm pretty sure it's got something to do with damage dealing against enemy units. Officers with offensive tactics that deal soldier count decrease would definitely be better, like Kenshin, Shimazu Iehisa, Tachibana Dousetsu, Honda Tadakatsu etc. Even the basic soldier count decrease tactics do wonders with high tier STR alias.
The Civil alias is also helpful, but not necessarily for battle, but for development. I tend to see AI Ieyasu boosting his civil alias despite him being strong on other stats too. Ieyasu's probably better off with the LEA or INT alias imo. But I'd expect you'd want all-rounder officer with high stats on the field rather than sitting in the castle developing your lands at a faster rate. People like Honda Masanobu, Murai Sadakatsu are for sure better off doing that for you than Ieyasu or Hideyoshi.
But it also give stat booster so ideally you want like your highest int guy with the int alias for example.
In general you want the combat dudes get either lead/war alias, war's effect is better but these things dont stack so the other alias has use as well. Int for those who has int as their primary stats. the POL alias is best for those people you never bring into combat as the bonus doesn't affect combat.
Though honestly these alias is not that big of a deal, AI couldn't get them to high level for a long time anyway only player can.
Oh interesting, I didn't realize they stack.
I've seen the AI max their aliases pretty often on ExHard, especially the officers they send to fight often, like if the AI has people like Tadakatsu or Yukimura, by mid-game if you capture them, they're already maxed. Usually I'd see a lot of AIs maxing out the POL alias more often. Then again, maybe I play slow so the AI has time to spare. Is 20 years a long campaign usually?
Example: having 1 Experienced/LEA + 1 Bulwark/VAL (so, different types) is good. Having 2 Bulwarks/VAL does nothing, since only one will count.
