It's worth mentioning that you can avoid the Honnoji assassination as Nobunaga.

Just move the capital to Nijo and it'll trigger the event "Nobunaga's Premonition". Doing that triggers the "Behind Honnoji Temple" event. Mitsuhide forms his clan while Nobunaga's heir dies. Main base then transfers back to Azuchi.
After that, crush Mitsuhide and when reduced to one castle, a neat cutscene plays where Nobunaga demands the reason for the betrayal.

Bonus points: the event is called "Nobunaga's Ambition: Awakening"

You can turn off the events, like RTK14, so of course. You can avoid Nobunaga's death and skip the power struggle between Mitsuhide Akechi, Hideyoshi Hashiba, Katsuie Shibata and Nobukatsu Oda.

You can avoid Honnoji without resorting to manually turning off events.

It's useful for those who like to see the different events storytelling. Or for those who find that manually messing with events feels like cheating.

One of the key triggers for Honnouji is that Nobunaga's main base has to be Azuchi iirc. So in most cases, if you start in very early start dates, Honnouji would almost always not happen since the AI barely move their main bases unless they lose it. It's not a full guarantee that AI Nobunaga would automatically move to Azuchi either if say, Kiyosu falls.

there's also one where you give one of nobunaga sword to yasuke i think, Nobunaga survive but with less castle and its almost like starting over cause hideyoshi shibata also nobukatsu stayed independent
