NOBUNAGA'S AMBITION: Awakening

Yoshimoto Imagawa
Playing as the Oda on ex-hard, I get to roughly 1555 and Yoshimoto beelines for Owari with 90k soldiers whilst I have roughly 35k. I've tried everything from defensive bases to diplomacy and nothing helps lol. Is there anyway to stop him until Okehazama triggers?

You'll have to bait Imagawa units one at time until their army becomes manageable if you can pull off an authority victory this can cause some confusing among the Imagawa countries.

Other then that I cannot really do anything as even on Easy The Conquest of Owari I was attacked by close to 30k even with Saito reinforcements I only had 12k, so either the A.I gets extra resources or I am bad at castle management.

In close combat like that you need to prioritze getting as many training grounds as soon as possible and have it in the defense base or hooked up to the defense base. With a healthy 1 to 2k solder stack you generally shouldn't lose a defense base, unless you are undermanned, but officer count should be no issue for the Oda

ALSO: You should adjust your base so that your best towers are facing the Imagawa, watch towers are the best in my opinion, but secret bases, boulder towers are also very good if they are able to activate. If space allows, try to mix in support towers behind them, the def and anti pincer ones are very good

manually fight them before the bulk of their forces from their far away base arrive.

you can win defensive sieges easily by configuring the placement of your castle equipments, watchtowers are especially very good, especially since the AI will keep advancing their 1k tribe army and they'll retreat once they go below 400- 500. That's a fat -100 morale against them xD

oh and don't forget to put your highest INT officer in the castle. The last thing you want to happen is the enemy doing covert and destroying your castle's HP.

PS: There's an event list to the upper right, the book icon. You can check what's the requirements for Battle of Okehazama event xD

Weird, in past NAs the Battle of Okehazama event would trigger before 1560, for example as early as 1555 as long as certain conditions were met.

Defensive siege battle is extremely easy to win. If you want to watch it in action that Lu Bu youtuber posted a video where he uses like few 100s of troops to destroy like 15k army of Motochika because of how bad the AI is.

That's why even if they improve the campaign AI this time around it is probably even harder to lose now because defensive castle battle is too stacked in player's favor. Watchtower really needs to get nerfed because it is far far better than any other equipment.

Tried the 1553 scenario as the Oda on Normal. As soon as Saito Dozan dies, Yoshimoto beehives for me with 50K troops against my 20k. I had set a Defensive Base in Narumi - only for them to head to Nagoya instead.

Managed to fend them off in peacemeal battles, only for them to come back one year later with 50k men again. This is where I just threw my hands up in the air and abandoned my game.

Same thing started the conquest of Owari if I go for Kiyosu I'll get attacked by the Imagawa with Takeda reinforcements if I try to build up same thing, it is a bit easier to do this in Nobunaga Is here because you have time to build up as the Mastudaira/Tokugawa stop him from attacking too soon.

That's why I came to prefer the Low soldier replenishment setting. Wars get a little slower and more decisive IMO, while the "world progression" keeps basically the same.

that setting benefit the player more because AI loses troops a lot more than the player when facing other AI honestly. Also you win one major battle and it's even easier to steamroll.

Fast replenishment makes hard AI expand more rapidly and make the game more challenging.

Game is at a pretty challenging place for me already, so I wouldn't mind having it easier if that means a more enjoyable pace.
