Rainbow trout removed?
I've been fishing for about 3 hours straight (not an exaggeration) in an underground water source where I can very clearly see the rainbow trout swimming and have caught one here before, but can only catch rock and metal. I'm not sure if my game is broken or what.

you can find rainbow trout in ponds and rivers only and not in caves as far as I know. In caves you only find raw anglerfish. you can see them glowing in the water.

I caught 4 from the underground pond. They have glowing spots in them but all I can catch now are angler fish. There's a note in one of the caves saying someone found a pond of glowing fish but forgot their pole, and the location of the pond. I'll check in some topside though, so far I havwny been able to find any above ground

Underground, you catch angler fish, the IRL version having been described in a memorable video as "a nightmarish fanged potato with a little reading lamp on top." Also sometimes rocks, metal, and even more rarely lightstone.

Above ground, you have fresh and salt water. Salt water gives you things like sardines. Fresh water gives you sunfish -- and rainbow trout. So check ponds and rivers for your rainbow trout. And remember, anglerfish sell for 25g each.

Ah okay thanks for the ind either info. Maybe it was just a glitch that I caught them underground before? It only happened the once and not since then, that's why I thought they were underground.

Yeah, probably some sort of data glitch. You'll definitely have more luck on the surface. I'm fond of that pond in the northern part of the island, mostly because my house is near there.

Yeah I found a nice pond on the dark forest island town. I figured out that because if that glitch I was under the impression the rainbow trout were also glowing in the water 🤦‍♂️ not gonna lie though this game has some of the most eye pleasing base building I've ever played.

It's worth getting the fishing hat and vest; they make it easy to tell where the pools are and what kind of fish they have.

The glow you see in the anglerfish pools is the little reading lamps on top of the nightmarish fanged potatoes. :) IRL, anglerfish live in the deep ocean, and have bioluminescent lures on flexible rods on their heads. When some other fish sees the glow and comes to investigate, they open their huge mouths and gulp it up. Anglerfish (there are many species of them) are absolutely fascinating.

One place they don't live is caves. But I suppose catching blind, colorless cave fish the size of your finger wouldn't be very interesting.

Oh I love angler fish iron lol they look so wild, like something out of a horror movie. I'll deffinetly be investing in the fishing clothes now though thank you!
