As suspected, there is more to the treasure map.
I read earlier someone found the treasure, and what it was. He said to use pickaxe on a tiny spot, where the X is. I've been searching for this for an hour now, I can't find it. Anyone who can point me in right direction?

Lol literally a few minutes later I figure it out. I was expecting a highlight, when you hover over a tree, the mouse becomes an axe. This is not the case for this treasure.

To find the treasure, it's marked by a little starfish. Use you pickaxe on it, even it does not highlight or indicate you can hit it. Profit.

I hunted this down too and almost got fooled because there were two barrels there. I saw the starfish after messing around for a minute wondering, "was that really it?" and I couldn't actually hit the starfish with my pick. I almost left but I tried messing with the starfish one last time and I was able to hit it although the hit box was down and to the left. Hopefully this doesn't throw too many people off.

just build the map. you buy the blueprint from the pirat

ah okay thanks! I got confused because the treasure islands are located differently for me than for others

Find an island that matches on your map, that matches the one on the decoration/blueprint.
Go to the exact place where the red cross is, on the blueprint. You can build the blueprint again, you don't have to sail back to look.
On the exact spot, there is a little starfish on the ground. Red.

Oddly enough, I have uncovered the entire map (to the edges until the "gods" throw me back) and there is NO island that matches the treasure map...
