Murasaki if you want a character that is good overall (Lot of poise during attacks, very good heal, should be able to do most of the PvE content with her).
Then later on it depends on who you want to main for PvE, not everyone is good (like Kirara and Noah sucks) but you should be able to do PvE content regardless of the character if they are strong enough, hope that help.
I'd probably grab Emily. I personally hate playing her, but she's the queen of brain-dead farming, which will help out a lot in general.
What do you mean for "Farming" and Auto-Farm? Can you go a little in depth regarding that? Also, what's a good spot to farm or farm early?
Murasaki... that's the blue-haired girl with the axe, right? So, enough leveled up I can get her good enough to do even Hard-level fights? I got Sakura to level 61 and been upgrading as much as I can with weapons, skills, and support.

Her skill "Zero System" turns her normal attack (and Homing Bullets) into an auto-attack and makes her move automatically to the next area whenever the current field of enemies is cleared, letting you more or less tab out and do other things while she does the work for you.
This goes even further if you have the Pale Rider UR weapon (auto-dodge that works often enough to trigger either Healing Field for healing or Round Slicer for area damage and stagger).
For more active playstyles, I recommend both Aina Winchester and Kannazuki Sora (ranged superiority, high AoEs with low cooldowns, short animation times, personally very enjoyable to play). Bonus points for Aina sharing weapons with Yukikaze (White Crown, Phantom Butterfly if you have it, etc), as Yukikaze is still my best fighter for bonus stages due to her ridiculous self-healing from Raiun and easy fire-and-forget AoE in Raijuudan (the slow moving massive electric ball attack).
Well I did went ahead and used the Voucher on her and got her to level 40 atm. Don't think I got her Pale Rider weapon, but I'll check.
Unfortunately, I ran out of Gold as I've been upgrading every character, weapon, support, skill, etc... when I can and my AP is out right now and my AP Refill is gone.
Is it better to use the Documents to skip battles or use Emily to auto-farm battles? Do you get more rewards doing the actual fighting?
Auto skip mean you can do levels you wouldn't even be able to win with your character BUT you need to get all achievements in that level (stars), this means in secret quest even if your main character wouldn't be able to win you can skip it as long as you have won it once with any character. So if you can do hard event 5 with Emily don't use the Plans for that.
BTW have you redeemed the coupon IAMTAIMANIN ?
I did do the first level of the Secret Quest (Sakura nearly died) so I can use the first floor at least? It's ridiculous how tough these battles are.
And, yes I have. Coupon was helpful.
And I finally saved up enough to get Yatsu Murasaki.
Level change daily, some are harder than others, by default secret stages should be a challenge at your level but if you can do it you'll get some materials for enchanting.
One of the hardest level is in the last level: 2 then 3 then 3 then 4 taimanins.
There was an event for it at some point, after checking I did not find the weapon being currently obtainable anywhere.
Well you don't need it anyway because she can do the farming without it, if you had a copy Emily would be able to auto dodge thus heal somewhat but for now since we can't get it better forget about it.
Hope that help.
And I second the next post. Miona could you tell us some builds? Well, I don't have a lot of Supports yet as I started.
So, should I focus on unlocking characters first then do some Gacha pulls or use the half off Gacha pulls to help a little once and while?
Can use Auto-skip on days you are short on time too. (But maybe you are too smart to play 6 daily grind games like I do).
Taking so long to level up.
Best way to get Gems without spending money?
You'll get plenty of gems just by playing. Do the special mode at least once per day (you can do it 3 times per day if you're diligent or more if you're some kind of android that doesn't require sleep).
Make sure you do events when they are active. They reward supporters (up to slv.5), gacha coins (up to 5x) and perhaps most importantly, the awakening crystals which are required for leveling past level 75. These can be a pain to get as a newer player with few characters and weak weapons/supporters, because you need to have a good enough team to do arena tower or Taima VR to farm them consistently.
I know you said Sakura is your highest level, but unless you really enjoy playing her or she's your waifu, I highly recommend leveling Yukikaze first out of the characters you have. All you have to do is slap any 3 assist (green) supporters on her (+ranged damage or +crit is great but not required if you don't have any with those perks) and pick Raiun (damage and self-healing), Raijuudan (big damage) and either Spark or Hiraiten (for cc) and she will wreck face. She will carry you a lot farther than Sakura when you start getting into harder content.
Asagi is also top-tier and I'd level her before Sakura as well. She's just a bit more tedious to play than Yuki. Same with Emily. She's super-strong in all content but kind of sucks to play (imo). Sakura isn't terrible or anything but she's just not on the same level as those other characters.
