4. Seconds.
The track used in the trailer wasn't made for the game and was bought the license for {LINK REMOVED} this track from music library to be used only in the trailer. It wasn't our intention to plagiarize anyone else's work, we simply chose a track that seemed to fit the atmosphere and pace of the game.
The Speed Demon track isn't the problem at all, it's the part BEFORE THAT where y'all clearly and sloppily used Mick Gordon's work for your "Dread Templar" Title part before your purchased music was used. THAT is the issue here.
The dev's reply is just dodging the actual issue and pretends to not get the point. Seriously, if this is your first rodeo in making games, my advice is that you need to be honest with your players.
Also, you can just NOT use Mick's track and just use the purchased track from the music library. The track you purchased already have the transition of a muted intro to a full blown heavy guitar and drums. You don't really need to do anything really, just line up the opening title to the in-game footage. I'm sure a YouTuber somewhere can edit this lol.
Just a heads up devs, I haven't contacted Id yet...but it's in your best interest to get this sorted out before they do catch wind. Cause that's gonna be a C&D or full blown lawsuit for sure. It's appalling how the devs can't even read for comprehension what we're trying to say here, it's either extremely amateurish or they're just trying to play stupid and hope it'll blow by. Spoilers: It won't.
Copyright claims are also valid for 70 years, even if the original artist has died.
In all fairness it would be harsh, but it would be best to remove those 4 seconds of music, it won't change much anyway.
