Relationship to SEGA
How is this game related to SEGA. Is the IP licensed from them? Can they make unilateral changes to it such as the recent take2 change to bioshock games to add a storefront? I've been boycotting sega since they ruined the ios sonic ports. Please let me know how much influence sega would have on this game so I can decide whether I'm willing to purchase it.

As Deadpool stated Alex the Kidd was a Sega Icon before Sonic's first ever game on the Sega Master System 1 it was an inbuilt game that came with the console, it was then passed onto the Sega Master System II. But Sonic the Hedgehog came out and was the 2nd game that was inbuilt into the SM2 so you could buy either thought Sonic was the best choice.

This remake has kept mostly to the orginal you can even play the original by hitting your RT to switch between remade and original with original music as well. I was born in 1983 I first played this game in 1989 with ATK inbuilt it was a great game but seriously hard I never completed it, It wasn't until 1991 I got a SMS2 with ATK but bought Sonic on cartridge.

Those games you refer to were mobile ports like most games they contain ads even Nintendo do it with Mario and every other mobile company why they thrive and get so much revenue. To boycott something like that when they all do it is a little bit silly this game doesn't contain ads if thats what you want to ask, as stated they did a really great job keeping to the original but adding extra feel

My question wasn't about the history of the IP, it was about who maintains creative control over this specific game which so far no one has really clarified. Also my dislike of the ios ports is 1. They let me pay to remove ads. 2. They added an update that invalidated that purchase, refused to refund my payment and didn't honor the terms of the payment. I have no intention of actively supporting such a user hostile company. Those games were a love letter to 90s gaming that they ruined out of pure greed after a few years.

This is the business model now, Cash in on nostalgia supply a defective product or turn said product into a parallel of social or political values that said company wants to push, They put these things in movies and games then when you complain they're destroying the theme and making poor products they blame you.

I've no loyalty trust nobody.
