Btw: The infinitive life mode is not a cheat, its an official gameplay feature. Nothing whats hidden or need to be activated by a secret button combo.
yeah but it behaves like a cheat and renders the challenge of the game trivial, so I will just call it like that.
As far as Radaxian Castle boss (Gooseka 2?) goes... when you get the pattern down he's actually quite easy -- you can literally run up and punch him a bunch of times before he even throws the first ball, hang back for a second til he threw it, then run up again and finish him off ;)
Ok, you clearly haven't played the game, so you don't know how this works.
Unlike the original this remakes gives you infinite continues from startup, so at worst you have to play a short level again.
The infinite lives option, just give you infinite lives, basically, but according to the structure of Alex Kidd, this has huge influence.
So Alex Kidd does not feature any designated checkpoints. Instead, if you die, you will lose one of your lifes and the game places you immediately before the obstacle you've died.
So normally you have 3 starting lifes to beat an level, there is no throwback, but you have just these 3 lifes.
With the infinite lifes option you have no throwback and every time you die you get immediately placed before the obstacle, so this is bascially an god mode and allows for infinite hits. It's makes the game trivial and effortless to complete, if this isn't a cheat, what is it then?
Which the infinite lives also helps avoid.
I played already many times original and few times in the remake, and this is nothing more than an easy mode, but not a cheat at all. "Short" level unlike you are at last castle, this level isn't short at all and frusting too, if you need to redone this after every game over. Unless in the original game, there is no continue mode.
Saying i haven't played the game is only stupid, nothing more.
I'm curious you haven't quoted more than the first paragraph like you didn't read my posting. I already explained to you why this goes way beyond an easy mode.
So sure maybe you have played the remake (but not on steam) and are not aware how huge the difference is, maybe just trying out for yourself.
I played already both modes, and don't see much difference, only differnce is not to start all over again. You also need fight bosses, run over obstacles or avoid enemies. It makes the game easier, but waaay beyond a god mode, a god mode allows you run through the level without effort and doing noting to win the game. This mode only sets you back on annother point of the level and you don't have to run all over again. you lose nothing be using this, this is only an easy-mode, but far, far away from god mode. Im not sure if you really know what god-mode in a game really do.
It sets you exactly right before the obstacle you've died. Even if its not a god mode, it's a closer to god any human can become.
Dancle is of the opinion that a cheat has to be "hidden" to count as a cheat, whereas Chocos believes that any feature that disables certain achievements and makes the game easier beyond its original scope is enough to count as a cheat.
Neither of these two views are inherently wrong, it's just a matter of opinion.
I'm waiting for the fist patch too as many are probably
As long as the achievements are disabled when the 99 lives are used it doesn't bother me at all, let everyone just have fun how they enjoy playing and with some practice people using the lives toggle may disable it one day.
99 lives wont help in the boss rush mode either way, its not that hard but only punches are aloud(no items) and you have to make it through all four bosses without getting touched.
IMO they did a great job with this DX edition, hopefully they can do Shinobi World one day
