How long does it takes to finish the game?

For a 20€ game I expect the game could have at least 7 - 8 hours of duration + some content to be unlocked. How long does it takes to finish the game?

First playthrough will take you around 2-3 hours or so for someone who is decent at platformers. Then you have collectibles, Boss Rush mode and Classic mode. In total I would say around the 4-5 hour mark to get everything completed for a platformer enthusiast

Disclaimer, I'm pretty familiar with the original:
The main game mode took a bit less than 2 hours;
Boss Rush took around 20-25 minutes;
Classic Mode took around 40 minutes (on par with the base game if you're not speedrunning).

Still haven't gotten all collectibles or achievements yet, though.

5 hours? But you already knew the original game well? Because from my memories it was very hard to finish. Or has the difficulty been reduced?

I am more tempted into buying the game right now and try it for 2 hours. Since you can refund the game if you play less than those 2 hours, if I don't like it or I think the game does not worth those 20€, I just can refund it.

i've played the normal story, without to catch all collectaables and hidden island in ~2h... i used unlimited lifes, because i never finished the game on sega xD and i died so many times here, it was a good decision :D it's a nice nostalgic feeling and finaly after ~30 years i beated it :D
