Yeah, kinda seems OP is talking out their ass.
Big fan of the original, and there are some things here that I don't really understand (some hit boxes being fiddly, "Classic Mode" not actually being a ROM or the M2 Switch port of the original game) but all in all I really liked it.
Also...the first level is "trash"? It's literally the same exact setup as the first level of the Sega Master System game.
Oh boo hoo, you can't despawn the ghost anymore. Just clear your path ahead and outrun it like you were meant to do, problem solved.
As someone who has been playing the game since 1991 regularly, I love this remake. It's not 1:1 and if I wanted a 1:1 remake, I'd play the SEGA AGES version on the eShop.
The aim wasn't to make a 1:1 recreation of the Master System title, as that exists in the original game, but to bring the core gameplay to a modern presentation, provide some fun new additions for fans in new levels and modes, and to provide a faithful representation of the classic Master System version in classic mode.
Only thing I'm bummed about is that you can't do the pause glitch in the blue castle. Basically, if you kept pausing off and on in the original game you could glitch the game out to hell and back. It was pretty hilarious but also softlocked the game.
You've done a great job. Love being able to switch between the 2 versions.
The original wasn't great because of bugs or glitches. That version is easy enough to find and play if you want.
Also, there's a demo to try first so there's no reason to "waste" $22.
Because after a few decades you want to revisit an old classic?
Because those games get new additions? Like this here has new levels and other improvements?
Because there's still a lot of work put into it and people want to support that?
There are a lot of good reasons to buy something like this remake.
Oh and not everybody is as poor as you....some people just have the money to support a lot of developers and their hard work. It's that simple.
Edit: And you have several remakes in your tiny library as well like Grim Fandango, Outcast and Okami...so you buy remakes but complain about them? This doesn't even make sense...
