Dog Meat Inconsistent

I was messing around in 106, tossing some meat at night to keep the dog at bay. It didn't take, so I thought it was too far. so I toss another near a doorway which it happily went for... and then abandoned at 60% and came back into the house. I thought I was done for, and then it decided to go towards the "farther" one and started eating again.

Does multiple meat mess with the AI? Do dogs have some kind of internal hunger meter where they'll abandon the meal after a while?
