Save Slot Mechanics
Awful, plain nuiscance. Please make an extra slot for "will be overwritten (by auto save)". Not a feature, not gameplay, just in the way.

That's... literally what the first slot is. All other ones are for manual saves that will not be overwritten.

it's not difficult to comprehend it but it feels strange that you can save manually there if it's designated for quicksaves/autosaves.

it is kinda unnecessarily confusing when they could just have normal save slots, and only display the quicksave/autosave category when choosing to load a save.

Thank you for the answers so far, i should elaborate, and could have asked this as a question, rather.

Actually i had noticed that the first slot is used for auto save, that's ok-ish, if you know it. My issue rather is with not being sure, if it also leads to removing saves somehow, which in hindsight doesn't make much sense, if i don't add further saves myself.

My actual problem was, that i had saves made, and tried stuff, then wanted to return to the save i intended to play on from. Unfortunately the saves only display the in-game time, so i can't know which is which, unless i had memorized the in-game time. However when loading a save, each time, it would ask again, if i want to proceed with the first slot being overwritten. Since i assumed that it might remove the desired savegame eventually, because it looked like the order had changed, i stopped playing and wrote some rage-quit message. The auto-save each time before loading also doesn't make much sense, that could in theory even be a bug.

On that account a "no manual save" slot would make it look slightly less messy.

I also made the "important" save to the second or third slot, but it looked like there was a different inventory after loading those.

So maybe i'll give it another chance with reloading, and if i can't find the save, reconsider.

I think it's safe to say, that it doesn't reorder nor overwrite saves.

The dialog with the first slot doesn't really make sense, they should disable manual saving to that slot alltogether, because you can't even load another slot, unless you agree upon overwriting the first slot.

The game will also always load the autosave, and has no option to load the LATEST (or any other) save. This is a nuiscance of sorts. Or it should autosave just before you do something, where saving isn't possible anymore.
I'll put it under bug reports, though you could call it a feature instead.

My issue is that it always loads the automated save by default. So you have to let the auto-save load, then load the most recent manual save.

also we have an auto save key (default F5) why do we not have a default key (F9 for instance) to quick LOAD?
Indeed, even at the very start, it would also load the auto save, even if there is a more recent manual save.

Might make sense to add an option for the preferred save, e.g. auto/latest/last-loaded(if).
Some people might play several branches with different in-game play time (in theory), and continue now and then. In that case, last-loaded would make sense, as an alternative to loading the auto save.

Autosave key makes sense, thank you for mentioning. That makes it slightly less of an issue, as i can advance the autosave towards somewhere, unfortunately i can't prevent it overwriting that slot "at random".

I want the system that the first one had:

- Autosave when you exit the car
- The ability to delete save slots
- The ability to name save slots
