How do you "put on" the respirator?

I have it in my Inventory, but Its doesn't have an "equip" like the drones.

Select it like you would a tool and it should just slip on and stay there even if you navigate to another tool. You need to select it again to take it off.

?? from the inventory? Just selecting it doesn't seem to work, and it doesn't have a equip button.
If you mean from hands, I don't even see it in the cycle

Nevermind, I figured it out. You have to select it directly from the Quick Wheel for some reason.
