Prefer A Star Trek Type Ship
I have to say how impressive the work that has been done on the space visuals and planets and the ship design and interior. It is quality work and looks like it has a lot of potential.

However, this is the game I would want to play based on being a Star Trek fan since childhood. Namely, this is the type of game I hoped Star Trek Online would be.

I wish you guys had more developers and more resources...looks like you have the talent...to make ships like the Enterprise-E and Enterprise-F and Enterprise-G come to life...that's what I want to see. in addition to space stations and visitable planets and other ships.

Hey,
thank you for the kind words, but even with more developers etc, we would not build those ships as they are protected by copyright. :D

Hello, would this game be possible to be able to have a Mod Kit so Mods can be created to add the Star Trek ships? Thank you.

The developer has stated he is not opposed to modding, though given how complex the ship interior designs are he doesn't think it will be viable for the modding of new ships in and has no plans for modding kits for ship replacements at this time.

"Just to expand on question #1, it's going to be extremely difficult, if not completely impractical to implement custom ship building on the Steam workshop. This is because the ships in the game are built from the ground up like real vessels, so you've got literally thousands of separate pieces that all fit together to make a single ship. That, and the fact it's not just simple static meshes, most of the ship (even the wall panels) has running code. The workshop just isn't equipped for something like that.

Also, there isn't an "exterior ship model" as such, because the outside of the ship is literally just an extension of the interior, so you couldn't for example make a ship in Blender and stick it straight into the game.

I don't want to underestimate the skills of the modding community, because often they are better than the actual developers, but the ships in Starsim are just too complex for typical modding practices." - Dan Govier (on Discord)

Dan is using Sketchup as the CAD software so theoretically he could turn it into actual blueprints and build the ship for real...

Everything is being modelled with existing building regulations in mind... even down to individual steps in a staircase...
