Where on earth are the items?

I can't proceed with the Slum 2 chapter. Enter password 2511 on the keypad behind the picture to reveal the secret room. If you touch an box in the secret room, see a "Tracker" item. But I don't see any of that.

Spoiler warning, obviously. First, to be clear, you're talking about Seamus' apartment. If you're not inside the apartment yet then that's a whole different puzzle and a different question, so I'll assume you've gotten that far. You start by going around the room knocking down the pictures on the wall; there's really not much else to do in there. If I recall correctly, you get close to the pictures and follow the prompt. One picture is hiding a clue "Time will tell" and another is hiding the keypad. The clue tells you that the password in shown on the clocks on the wall; that's where you get the 2511. Then you walk up to the keypad and enter the code. Note that once you're inside the secret room you have to explore a bit to find the tracker; it's not just lying there out in the open.

I sounds to me like you've gotten hold of a bad guide. If it tells you the password without telling you how to discover the password then it's a bad guide since it's leaving out the steps you'd need to follow if you were playing the game without a guide. I hate guides where they just give you passwords and whatnot without telling you how to find them in the game. It's like reducing a 200 page mystery novel to "The butler did it." (Talk about spoilers.) I realize that people get stuck sometimes and you need a guide once in while, but some guides are better than others and if the guide isn't pointing out the clues you missed, the "Oh, I didn't see that!" moments, then you should be looking for a different guide.

I didn't watch the guide. It's not fun. Anyway, the game really doesn't play anymore.

It's a blind (more or less) Let's Play and I got stuck there for a few minutes myself.
