Make Vapora drop another paint can?

First time playing through Stray (PC) with Xbox controller and I'm presently on Chapter 6. I encountered Vapora throwing paint cans and meowed to cause one to fall before I knew about the detergent, tracker, Elliot or the poncho that grandma would need to make for him. I didn't go into the laundromat at this time. Hopefully, I haven't discovered a game breaking bug.

After realizing what I needed to do fix the tracker, I went back to Vapora but now can no longer manage to trigger the previous camera angle shift or get the Meow prompt to appear again. I've been unsuccessful in causing any subsequent paint can to drop so that I can go down into the laundromat and get the detergent. Without a path forward, I'm stuck.

Is there something that am I missing? I don't remember exactly when I first triggered Vapora's reaction. Has anyone else encountered this? Perhaps someone has a suggestion other than restarting the entire game or using chapter select? Thank you in advance!

If there is white paint in front of the door to the laundromat and the proprietor trying to clean it up then you're fine. Just go into the laundromat, pick up the detergent and go to the trader to buy the electric cable and proceed from there.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, the proprietor has long since cleaned up the paint, gone back inside and closed the door. I can scratch the door though. When I do this, I just get questioned about whether I'm one of the bots on the roof dropping the paint cans and the door stays closed. It would seem that I need to spill more paint because I missed the initial opportunity the clean up was providing. However, I'm uncertain how to recreate that scenario.

Wow. Sorry to hear that. I would restart the level. Sorry.

That's weird. They normally just keep cleaning it forever once they start. You may have a bit of corruption in the save file.

Kosma should never stop cleaning the ground. If she got a reset, so should the duo on the roofs, try to move closer to Vapora to trigger the meow prompt again, it should be the action button (triangle) followed by the on screen prompt to press circle to meow at the right time. If it doesn't trigger, keep moving around Vapora, positioning the camera, just keep trying. Otherwise restart the whole chapter, since there wouldn't be any other solution, if it's a game breaking bug, those may happen unfortunately.

i couldn't get this to work at all on a second playthrough. But I tried rubbing against Vapora's legs and that triggered the prompt for me.
