Stray Just bought the game

Game wont start up after 40 seconds a window pops up , Stray has stopped working, a proplem caused the program to stop working. Worked on It to get get it started but no luck 8.1 windows I give up asked for a refund.........

and those are wrong. The game is running DirectX 11 as default. And you can run it on Windows 7.
What you minimum need is a GPU with feature level 11_0

it running on win7 doesn't mean it's officially supported

if you can play it on win7, that's fine, there's still no guarantee it will run on 8 or whatever else

win10 is the only os it officially supports

Looks like I need to get windows 10 and then maybe It will work..

so i do have windows 10 but i cant get this game to run. a long error message, which i would be happy to get the full text of it would help someone to help me... anyway it starts with a low level fatal error and something about x:/jenkins and error E invalidarg.
for the record this is for my 11 yr old sons account and we are not the most tech savvy.

update: i did download and unpack a few files as suggested in another thread. Now, the game appears to launch but .... doesn't actually. I saw some comments about that, where steam dialog says the game is running but it isn't actually.

anybody that can help us out? leaning towards a refund at this point, sadly.

open the game directory, click properties Stray.exe and try this

Bruh. Upgrade your damn OS. It's so old Windows 11 is out.
