Can the cat be hurt/killed?
Several friends interested in game, but they are worried about this. Can anyone who has been keeping track of this game confirm whether or not its ever been stated/shown as to if the cat like, dies or just runs away after taking damage or anything like that?

Even just the chase scenes, I'm always so stressed. But it looks like even if you fail that, you're not seeing the cat get hurt or anything like that.

Swann Martin-Raget: To be precise, the cat can actually die during two sequences. It's a very short checkpoint, so you spawn back very close to where this happens. But in some sequences, the cat is actually in danger, and we wanted to portray that in a way that will hopefully raise the empathy that you have with your character. Maybe that will trigger some empathy in the real world, where people will want to avoid that happening to real cats in the world.

So far it has been shown that the cat can defintely be hurt but there's no health bar, this is probably made intentionally, like in some games (Last Guardian or Godzilla for PS3/PS4) to make ppl feel more worried about him.
In the newest trailer the cat is being shot by enemies (fortunately, unsuccessfully) and in a 8-minute gameplay trailer which you can find the enemies kinda jump on him and suck away his health. The screen turns red which indicates that the cat is feeling worse but when he manages to shake those enemies off, he's feeling better again and it's no longer red. So I presume the cat can definitely die but he's resilient and won't die easily (he's fine even after being attacked by lots of enemies at once). I'm sure this game won't be made the way that it's easy to die though, since it's a family-oriented game for cat lovers.

It's a computer game... Figure it out for yourself.
Hint: Computer games are not alive but you are...

Yeah, that does happen but that's beside the point. There's a reason there is a website solely dedicated to whether or not the Dog (or other animal) dies in a movie/tv show and that reason is that sometimes people have a harder time deal with the death (gruesome or otherwise) of animals than people.

Maybe it's because they know that actors have a choice in participating in said media and therefore they can emotionally disconnect from the aftermath but with animals it hits differently because those beings do not have a choice or a voice, as it were, and when their demise (abuse/gruesome/aftermath) happens it's harder to emotionally disconnect from. Sure it's a video game and it's a lot more fake than movies/tv shows, but that same empathetic connection is there and can be just as hard to disconnect for some people.

It's really no different than someone double checking to see if there is excess blood/gore/etc before watching a movie/tv show or purchasing a game to play.

It is what it is and there's no shame in that.
