Without wishing to be rude, this isn't a cat simulator. It's a cyberpunk game where the protagonist is a cat. It makes sense for the cat to carry gear given the setting. Not saying I like the look of it, just that the "it's a cat game" isn't really a compelling argument. Your cat is never going to be "as natural as possible" while carrying a large inventory, conversing with robots and killing mutated cacodemons with the UV flashlight from Blade.
It's a portable charging station for B-12, not a backpack. While I agree mostly with the sentiments of the opposing parties above, it really doesn't matter if it's a collar or harness in regard to carrying items. They're digitized by B-12 for transport (hence being able to get the keys before actually putting the harness on). What purpose it serves is to charge B-12, because as they mentioned in the beginning, their power supply is tiny/insufficient.
I quite like the harness. My cat has a similarly shaped one, actually, made of fleece for going out in the winter months. All that said, an electric collar would be cute, too, but B-12 would need to be plugged in all the time. I'm sure that wouldn't hamper game play too much since they're always above you (and when they're not, I imagine it wouldn't be unreasonable to animate a B-12-controlled, retractable power-supply cord). Would make for some nice DLC content later on down the road.
I struggle to find a fourth one in the robot city so I can buy the last item from the Market vendor.
Also i heard its only available on the 2nd Slum chapter but not sure on that one.
I like the back pack as well BUT it only stores the drone and badges. B-12 "digitizes" the physical objects, as stated when he picks up the first keys. While not explained I assume it's similar to Star Trek replicator tech but he can only make things he first "digitizes".
The robot does that, not the harness.
