I always run 24/7 for retails. Four shifts ending at 6, 12, 18, 24 - in my pattern it makes 6/6/6/6 so every salesperson works 42h/week
Arrange cleaners in same shift END hour and just adjust shift start time for the cleaner.
a) single cash register, single cleaner, one station working 1/1/1/1 at the last hour of each shift
* I avoid part-time workers so i always go 1/2/2/2 to give them 49hours per week and just have single pattern for small retail

b) double cash register, single station
- low traffic (jewelry) single cleaner 1/2/2/2 hours at the end of each shift
- high traffic (fastfood) double cleaner 3/3/0/0 + 0/0/3/3
c) for larger retails i use pattern like:
Four cleaners - one station, 4-6 hours each on each shift
They dont need to clean all the time and the 6h shift pattern allows you to adjust hours and have a clean shop every 6 hours. When theres a need for more than 49h/week you just add another cleaner to same station and divide their work
My largest retails work as the worker bank, 8-16 cleaners work 2x3 hours in checker pattern so I can always keep double squad trained. I really hate the recruiting and training, so I do it in bulk ant put those guys in my free slots in the pattern to have them for later.

The first C2 giftshop earns about 12k$ per day. I dont care the extra shift of cleaner for 50$/day. I just hire young ones at low skill 8$/h and train to max :D then the cleaning hours stop to matter.
Lets see the incoming Cleaner Unions demands (EA 0.4) and how they going to rip our retails off :D
