You've never played anything like this!
Yes I have its called Capitalism 2 and now Capitalism Lab. Love Cap Lab. My question is, how close to that is this?

In cap lap I can buy in resources to make my own items. I can run those resources businesses. I can buy ready made items in a relabel them as my own. I can just make my money from the stoke market. I could just make my money from owning property and collecting rent. I can now run a bank and just make my money from that or insurance.

My question is, what does this game have to make me want to purchase?

Big Ambitions is to Capitalism what Civilization is to Europa Universalis or Hearts of Iron. One is a more casual simplified game (Big Ambitions) and the other one is an in depth game with a lot of complexity. I think Big Ambitions is a great game for what it is and has a lot of potential. But if you are used to the in depth market simulation from Capitalism 2 or Capitalism Lab then there is a lot left to be desired from Big Ambitions. You aren't producing any wares, just selling them. There is no product quality, no product branding. No production chains, no stock market, no competition trying to undercut your prices and being aggressive on the market. If there is 100% demand for a product because there is no shop selling the product in a city area, your "competitors" won't dig into this market and open a shop. It's all left for you to do a monopoly. In Capitalism the AI would cut into that in a heartbeat.

Example: In my last savegame in 2 city areas there was 100% demands for gifts and no other gift shop. So I opened gift shops in those and made a small fortune and no competitor would open any gift shops there. There was no difficulty, the shops just kept printing money because there was no competition. It was an extremely stable high income without any market dynamics. Not much difficulty.

Thanks for the reply. Interesting game but sounds too simple for my liking.

In my case, I play games way too much and get bored so easily. So, on occasion I look for something to replace another game OR as a nice side game for a bit of diversion. At minimum, It is a great diversion game with a nice formula that will give you a solid hours of game play in a play through for a low price and low mental investment. It's fresh and engaging while you play. It will appeal to your more creative and casual side. Not too challenging but a little bit of a time sink via immersion. It will not replace anything except a boring weekend. It will not make you feel like a genius if you are doing well. It is a niche game. There is fun to be had. In my case, it surely has had me ask the devs for a car horn. Enough said.

Personally I enjoy the open world aspect and setting up businesses, being able to walk around the world and my businesses feels nice for some reason. if you want to look for ways to cheese the game, you can though.

Definitely needs balancing and stuff, but we're EA so hopefully it'll only get better from here.

What I like about steam is that if you've played 119 minutes or less and bought it within 2 weeks you can refund the game, so if you end up not liking it, it's usually not a problem.

As an old capitalism player, this game has one thing that capitalism can't give, being able to visit your shop instead of just watching bars and graphs go up and down sometimes please me, yes this game's current economy model is too simple to compare, but promising or not, it still have a long road map to go.

I would say mark this game, come back later and see if the game, or the mods can change your mind.
