That's a common confusion - the "profit" takes into account the inventory you previously purchased so you can see how well your business is doing. But since you bought it previously, you actually made more money today, than your "profit" shows.
The "Profitability" of your business needs to take into account the expenses. The cost of goods needs to be subtracted from the sale price in order to determine the profit that was earned from that sale.
However, since you already paid for those items previously, it is not deducted again from the money that goes into your bank. That's why the money added to your bank is more than the "profit" earned from the sale.
