How to use jerry can?

I bought a jerry can from the gas station. I have been unable to use it. Attempts:

1. Taking out the can while parked and going near the car. No options.
2. At the gas station, doing #1 - still no options.

So what is the correct procedure for using the jerry can? My fuel is 94% full right now, if at all relevant.

not tried it but just click on the car while having it in hand? like loading boxes.

It only puts back the jerry can.

Never tried that but maybe your fuel tank is too full at the moment.

another guess, keep it in the car, when tank get's empty maybe it automatically refills?

The jerry can will be used by clicking the car, but only if the tank is low enough to take all 6l.
