How to use Purchasing Agent?

I just hired my first purchasing agent. The guy is seated at the desk/computer. He is scheduled 40 hours per week. When I try to access him via the HQ-> purchasing agent screen it says "Only seated Purchased Agents can be accessed". What am I missing here?

You need to go to one of the importers and write up a contract with the agent

You have to lure the chair onto the computer when placing it, just so he can use it.

you need to go to the docks to the import/export offices, select the one you want a trade agreement with, it depends on the merchandise you want to buy, check with F1 to know which one is the right one.
Once you're in the office sit to start the conversation you'll be asked to select a purchase agent, select the one at your HQ and now from the HQ screen in the purchase tab you can make orders with that import/export service.
If you want merchandise from another group you need another purchase agent as each can only manage one import/export group.

You have to put the purchase agent on the schedule.
I had the same problem at first until I noticed it.

the purchasing agent has to be seated at the headquarters, not the warehouse. I know, its kinda counter-intuitive there, but you cant just put a desk, chair, and computer at the warehouse and put the PA there...PA goes to headquarters with logistics and HR...

also, once youve gone to the docks for each import/export office once, you'll have them in your contact list and can then just call them and not have to go to the docks again.

had the same issue. you need to call the import company to renew the contract.
