The warehouse screen would be better if it showed you how many boxes of a stock you want to store instead of the value, as 1000 fries is a hell of a lot different to 1000 wine (1000 wine is 40 boxes worth IIRC). Perhaps if you could select that you want X boxes and have it show how many of that item it would actually be so I don't have to manually work it out.
My issue is the two different measurements used within the game makes it needlessly more complex.
Can't agree more on this. Even when ordering stuff for your warehouse, you never sure they will fit or not
Currently, you don't know how much your warehouse can hold in total or how much is in there currently. A better display with that information is coming in the future, so that should help a lot!
For ordering inventory, the reason it's in units instead of boxes is exactly for the reason you mentioned - if you know your store is selling 140 fries and 140 wine, that's a completely different number of boxes, so we have the units so the player doesn't have to keep trying to do that math. However, I think it would be helpful to *also* list the number of boxes, as you suggested, so you know how much room this is going to take in your warehouses/stores.
This information in addition to the warehouse capacity should allow you to order intelligently, but still plan your storage accordingly.
What I had envisioned would be to select the amount of boxes and have it show you how many units of said item that would be, with the amount of storage available within the warehouse that's not assigned to other orders - but it looks like you're going down this route sort-of anyhow which is very good to know. I'm hoping some form of upgrade of this system is coming within the next patch, even if it's not the full planned version of the feature so we have something less frustrating to work with in the mean time.
I'm hoping my posts don't come across as negative, I like this game and see the potential of where it can go and from my experiences with the dev from their past game I have absolute faith that we'll get to that stage in the future.
