Interior Decoration
having some trouble with the gift shop in story mode, wanting to get it up and running, figured out most of the stuff i want like selling multiple stuffs and ETC

struggling with interior decoration, bought 2 carpets, a clock, another counter, a speaker, painted the wallsa nd floor, bought a bin and plant

score barely budged, customers still saying my floors and walls are ugly, what do i do to up the score?

Interior consists of a few things that the customers complain about. "Ugly floors and walls" currently means they want you to spend $5000 in the interior designer with upgrades to your walls/floors. They also want your employees to wear uniforms and they want music (which you can get with speakers from Ika Bohag). If it's a food place, they also want a place to sit down.

I did go up from 33->35%, i think it was from the bin, not sure if it wants tables and stuff but i just don't reasonably have the space to stick a bunch of decorations everywhere in the small building it wanted me to buy

all you need is to have
- a speaker (some 20..30% volume?)
- paint walls with decent paint (80$ should do perfect after a few days)
and you can skip the floor in this case
- uniforms

My best bet is you have to spend certain amount on paint. Decorations are useless imo.

For some shops you might need more to max them out, not sure. Also not sure it's worth the investment in the end. This is business sim. No need to spend 100k to make 10k.

I see, I was under the impression it would change immediately, now my score has gone up to 66%.

So, when you say spend 5000$, does that mean my current floor/wall set up needs to be 5000$ total or does it need to just total 5000 spent, even if I replace the expensive options with a cheaper one after? Or can I buy cheap walls like 2 times to equal 5000?

thanks

Also don't forget uniforms on Cleaning staff. Even if you don't see them working, customers will complain.

5000$ is not entirely correct. Depends on shop size. 75m² one doesn't need as much I'm pretty sure.

idk my customers were still complaining when it total'd around 4000, when i replaced a few tiles in the back with more expensive ones they immediately shut up (up to around 5k) for the 75m 1

The total current value needs to be $5000. So if you spend $2000 and replace those same tiles with $3000, that won't count.

Logically that makes sense, but it's just *currently* a flat rate no matter what.

I dislike this flatrate a lot. Is a pain when you start out, replace walls, even design patterns, pay 3k for when you are almost broke anyways. And you still don't get anywhere. It also disqualifies a lot of design possibilities in smaller shops, since you are forced to take the most expensive (and unfitting) choices.

You are right - the current flat rate doesn't make sense for a small shop in Garment District. Emphasis on "current" (this is being adjusted to make more sense)

Thank you for your feedback. I am really looking forward to it, since the whole decoration and interior design part was what drew me mainly to this game. Seeing it so barebones might be a bit too early in Early Access for my taste. I was expecting more refinement there, since the rest of the gameplay already feels quite polished. Especially thinking that there are over a dozen choices for walls and floors invalidated by the decoration system.
Is there an eta when this issue will get tackled, so I might have an idea when to play the game again without getting frustrated by lack of choice?

The design aspect should be getting improvements periodically, but I will mention this to the devs. One item for EA 0.4 is "New feature: Outdoor furniture and decorations", so I'll see if they can add more "interior decorations" to the roadmap as well. You can keep your eye on that here:
