Are fast foods just that bad?
OK, so I'm playing the story version (because, why not). So I have the gift store and now my FF restaurant.

In my FF I only have dogs, burgers, fries and soda... so far.

This business makes GARBAGE money compared to the gift store. Makes no sense.

Anyhow, I'm VERY reluctant to invest further into this business.. e.g. Salad bar and Pizza oven. Should I just cut my losses on this one and close it down and move on?
Or, it the pizza and salad going to make this thing profitable.

FWIW. FF daily revenue is 1450. And after I pay employees... mid 3 digits.
Gift shop daily revenue is 4800 with only 1 FT and 1 PT employee.
I'm thinking I should just pull the plug on this one.... even though I don't really want to. :(

I'm too early into the game to drag along such bad performing business.

imo ditch the fast food. Too much competition, and barely even makes a profit. For me the first time i tried to invest more and it just tanked my income. If you are trying to get past the profit 3000/day just advertise the gift shop and keep it well stocked and keep expenses at the burger joint to a minimum.

Fast food is one of the lower earners, yes. Adding pizza does help a lot, but it's still not going to compare well to a gift shop. (a decent fast food place can make $10k / day, but others can make so much more)

One thing that can really help - if you're standing in the store right now, it will tank your profits due to an animation queue bug that makes the queues long and unprofitable right now. Either don't stand in there, or use time-machine if you're on the cash register.

But overall, it will not be big, at least until things are balanced a bit!

I do hope it gets balanced a bunch. I'm currently working on a coffee shop which has a similar problem from what i've seen. I personally prefer to run restaurants so I do hope they can make more in a future patch so we're not just stuck doing Gift shops, clothing and jewelry lol

Exactly! You should be able to be nicely profitable with any store. Obviously some will be better than others, but none should be complete failures!

Sold mine as early as i had the task completed which needs the second store to make profit.... its a pest to get fast food into good numbers... never regretted to sell it :D

for me i had a lot of fun figuring it out and once you do, getting a 30 capacity location to a good profit isn't hard

i open the businesses for fun though cuz i feel like it and not just money, since atm you can just make op stores in midtown if you want money that much

I finally got my Coffee shop fully fleshed out.... It is in a 30/hr building with 100% customer services and everything and around 80 promotion wise.

With a purchasing agent, warehouse and logistics.... as well as selling everything (donuts, cupcakes, soda, croissants, and coffee) It's currently making about $4-$5k a day. Not as much as my flower shop but its definitely profitable at least.

I've tried some "2 Go" shops in 15 cph stores defined as supermarket. They will make some money, if you add other products but it's nothing that will get you rich :D

To get a coffee shop really profitable, you'll have to wipe out all competitors.
But you will never get back your invest... :D

I'm real early in the game. Just now training up my first purchasing agent. 3 more days until 100.

I figure I will just limp along with the Burger Joint (Haha, that's the name of it) until I can get logistics setup so I don't have to mess with manually stocking it up.

I enjoy the slow challenge... but running to the warehouse every other day for a van load of hotdogs and such, is getting old.

Right now, I'm price gouging the restaurant and keeping minimum staff. It's not making any money, but at least I don't have to mess with keeping it stocked much until I can get that automated more.

Thanks

You can make contracts with NY distro to deliver instead early on (it's not keep in stock but works fine for ordering bulk for a few days before you have logistics set up)

i am usually too lazy to walk back and forth so i just manage a contract and order stuff when i want, you can make the contract at the desk in the building and then manage it via bizman

Lot of what you said I agree with. Honestly the dev's shouldn't have made fast food the second store, there's way too much upkeep. But that could also be what they are teaching us.

This was in the Garment District. There is high demand for cupcakes and donuts. And I made sure the place sells everything it can.
