What is the purpose of a Checkout Counter?

Placed one in a new business. Bizman app says the store needs at least one cash register.
I thought a checkout counter was a higher customer capacity cash register. But apparently not, so what does it do?

Other than outside the box thinking of also buying a cash register [if one can be connected on top/part of the checkout counter] I'd also like to know the same thing, I've always got my eye on one of those but won't be using it if it's broken.

I have tried placing a cash register on top of the checkout counter, but you can't do that.

you need to buy a cabinet or cocktail table and place the register on that.

Yeah, I know how to use a cash register. I used one in my first business, I thought I would try a Checkout Counter for my second business instead. But apparently it does not function as a cash register, so what does it do?

what business type are you trying to use the counter in? i posted a link which tells you in which business types you cannot use the checkout

you can't use a counter in all type of stores.
e.g. a nightclub with counter dosn't work - have you ever seen a checkout counter with belt in a nightclub?

Maybe there should be placed added on the bar and coat check for checkout register.

Yeah, that could be it I suppose. I just thought a checkout counter would look the part more in a fast food place.

but does a jewelry store work with that irl? i have one inside my jewelry store cuz it has more capacity but doesn't fit at all to the business type

What caused the confusion for me was, because in my mind a checkout is just a cash register with a higher throughput. The alert "Store is missing a cash register" threw me. Whilst that alert was, as they say "Technically the truth." Maybe it would be better if the alert was more specific, telling the player that it is the type of cash register which is wrong rather than just a statement that the store is missing a register completely.

Not all stores can use the checkout, and instead do actually need the cash register. Bizman info will show you this, If it just say cash register then that's it, else it will mention the checkout as well
