THIS is my kind of Sims
Honestly, this game is like is a gift to me. I've been playing Sims 2 back in the day with the business DLC and it was a fun experience. Instead of boringly waiting for 8 ingame hours while your sim visited some kind of invisible 'job' earning some predefined amount of money you could be actually making your own living! Invest into a shop, run it, then do all the sim stuff you want with the money you made - a premise that I wanted to have in other games as well. I've spent numerous time opening shops selling all kinds of stuff (including land property) to NPCs and tried really hard to spend as much time in the shop as possible because:

  • The transition between levels (in form of loading screen) was boring af (Sims 3 had it a bit better with those cars moving but still meh)
  • The load times between levels were horrible
  • The profits were waaaaay better when I handled them personally, right at the shop (~65k vs 1.3k when I 'managed' business via veeery long phone call)
  • The challenge of keeping your sim from passing out or leaving with gallons of coffee (you could not have a usable bed in a shop), a shower room, a really comfy chair and a fridge full of snacks was a good way to balance the earnings and keeping you busy from just assigning your sim to a counter and waiting for profits

So far this game gives me exactly the challenge and benefit I want and does it without lag or some serious bugs. I love it. Even the functioning illegal parking fee system contributes to the immersion!

I haven't tried all the content the game has to provide and eventually not got bored of it yet. But I really hope that the devs are looking into the modding opportunity - i've got some ideas that I'd want to try with this game.

Well written, I agree.

This. Unfortunately, modding is currently only listed under post-release dreams on the roadmap. It would be so cool if at least modding support for furniture, flooring and wallpaper came into the game sooner. I'm convinced that the game has a very bright future ahead of it in terms of sales - which means there will be enough budget for sure to speed things up ;)
