Simple maths.
Paying someone to sell 10 burgers worth 4.6$ per hour, at 25$/h
- gain 46$, lose 25. also lose 10$ to buy back thoses burgers. Thats makes 10$ per hour, deduce renting costs, you are barely in the green.
Versus, selling cheap gifts for exemple : 26$ per gift, will sell minimum 3 per hour, and up to 5-6 some days. With the same formulae, thats 78-156$ per hour, minus salary (assume 25$), 53-134$ per hour, deduce buying cost (13,5$- 27$), that makes between 39.5$ and 107$ per hour. Way enough to pay rent and rack some cash. And that's only with basic shop, the gap will increase even more with bigger shops and expensive gifts.
Conclusion, if you want to make profits with snacks and coffee, settle for costly products (CALL PIZZA lol)
1K is still rubbish.
One of my gift/flowers/wine shops is making 23K per day, it's only open 12 hours per day, 2 cashier staff at any time and 1 part-time cleaner doing 2 hours per day. It's building capacity is 30. I've opened 3 of them and my bank balance is skyrocketing.
Fast food just isn't worth it...
Very Big Location. Marketing 100%. All Product. 24 hour open
As the person above me said, size!
Fast food and cafe are high volume sale type businesses, they will suffer a lot in a 15 capacity. They basically always have or are around peak customers, so if it's a 75 building then it'll probably be at 75, marketing at this point would only serve to increase some of your weaker hours/stabilize the ones hovering around 74~, personally i open them in 30 capacities because i stay in garment district for awhile for fun
Other than that, product variety, add all the primaries (and some non-primary items if you want, you can sell everything anywhere, technically)
cafe and fast food are basically the same business, but the cafe struggles more due to lack of primary non-penalized items compared to the fast food place, you can see all primaries via the F1 menu
24 hour is also good as person above said
somewhere around 7k average is pretty good for a 24/7 30 capacity in my experience when only selling the primary item types in a fast food place in garment (make sure to up your prices slightly without affecting the pricing index, you can experiment yourself or use the cheatsheet on the discord/ask someone to post it, basically just a list of prices you can set without screwing yourself over because it's tedious after the millionth time)
think i go through like 400-800 hotdog/burger a day (and like 4400 fries per week ;-;), which gets annoying without an hq automating my daily deliveries
Having 4 registers does nothing, you can only serve the maximum of 30 customers each time. 2 is plenty.
