Selling price of things?
market value is normal amount, do you still make money on that?

For most retail stores, yes the market value will be profitable, although you can raise that price for many things (very little for food items, though), especially in midtown.

However for web dev and lawyers, it is basically required to raise the prices (quite a lot!) for them to be profitable.

For retail products, yes. For services (lawyers and programming), someone here informed me earlier the key was to train them to max, and then massively increase their fees. I tried this with lawyers, and am charging fees of $1000. Much profit!!

I did some experimenting with retail prices... in less expensive areas (like the starting region, whatever it's called), I have found that customers are happy to pay 120% of market value. In the more expensive areas (Hells Kitchen), I changed that to 130% and they are happy.
