I played the Quest2 version of this alot and was wondering if the PCVR version is much diffrent compared to the quest version

* PCVR has third person camera, mixed reality and you can change the windows FOV. If you're a content creator, you'll have much more freedom with PCVR.
* Graphics is much better, but please note that quest version is already using real-time shadow.
* PCVR version will be much easier to debug mods if you're a modder, because we have a simulator mode(running the game without hmd).
* if there's a multiplayer feature in the future, PCVR will be most likely the only version can host the game server.

I have both. I would say I like the pc version better only cause the graphics. I think I might be a quarter into the pc version. I want to get the damn mods working but dont know how. So can't say if the mods are better or not.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I do not support bottom-end Quest games - games made for the Adreno 650 phone gpu inside the Quest 2's XR2 SoC. But I might consider getting the game if it has been thoroughly enhanced for high-end PCVR.

Targeting a phone gpu would explain the empty surroundings in the trailer - very barren environments.

How exactly are graphics better for PCVR? I guess we get no better geometry than a phone gpu can handle? How much better are textures, shadows and lighting - and more?

Playing games for graphics is missing the point entirely. Missing the forest through the trees. I would rather play more than half the stuff on the Oculus Quest store than sit through a half hour of Hubris or some other weird PCVR title. Like that horrible Lonn game that Rune thought was so awesome just cos it was made for PCVR. Blindly championing one platform over the other because of some arbitrary technical high bar you've set for no reason doesn't help VR. Devs should be chasing the experience not the asthetics or surface lvl sheen which only helps market VR. But once you're in there with the fancy graphics and you realize nothing is fun like in Asgards Wrath.... THEN what???
Superhot VR > Lonn
Breachers on Quest > Vail VR

I could go on but I think just these two make a point.

Asgard's Wrath 2 hasn't been released. You don't know that. None of us do. Not like that would stop you from spouting off your opinions.

I like to base my opinions on facts. And believe it or not, not everyone thinks HLA is the best VR game on the planet. People have different opinions. Imagine that? I bet you can't though.

Can i turn the resolution scaling up to 0,85 and turn shadows off for the same performance on quest 2?
Cant wait for the update that supposedly brings almost 20% more cpu performance to the headset.

I recently bought the Quest version and if i turn off Shadows and Post effects i can turn the resolution up to 1 without any lag

I am about to check the game out but cant make up my mind to get in for steam and play through my link cable on quest 2 or just get it standalone on quest 2 store? I am a sucker for graphics leaning more towards steam other then my setup not being in the biggest room. I know both are the same but dose anyone favor one over the other?

have you tried playing it with airlink isntead of the link cable?

the quote you are looking for is missing the forest for the trees, i.e., one does not see the big picture.

Re graphics - Ive played and still play many old games like quake, dark forces 2, blood, arcanum, planescape torment, baldurs gate, fallout, jagged alliance 2, alpha centauri and even older like the old gold box games (pool of radiance), betrayal at krondor, ultima series, realms of arkania, might and magic 3-8 etc.

The important point is I appreciate those games for when they were made and limitations at the time for graphics since the gameplay more than holds up. HOWEVER, especially in VR it is a totally different experience where you are trying to simulate as close as possible reality - therefore it is virtual reality. My favorite VR thing is called digital combat simulator available here on steam, I have about 300 hours and will have prolly 10k before I croak. This is a perfect example of the closer we get to realistic graphics the better the experience and I am waiting for the Pimax Crystal and especially the 12k to get to amazon already. Of course I will probably need to upgrade my 3080ti for a 5090 but since I spend all my money on this hobby it is ok and I don't feel bad about it.

Hiking is free minus the gas fare and youtube has many good free podcasts and movies. Anyway, I need to check this game out but I just got swordsman VR so we'll see how this all goes.
