Deflecting heavy attacks is very hard

I got stuck on this part of the tutorial for 10+ minutes, and it was incredibly frustrating having to wait 10-15 seconds for the skeleton to attack me again every time. I spent most of this time just waiting there. Even poking the skeleton with my sword.

How to deflect? I had same problem.

The best way i did it was dash back wards when they attacked then spam throw whatever small weapon i had at them to break their head armor (usually knife or mace) then go for the head. no need to deflect when you can dodge (also sitting down works if you have rip and tear bought because you can grab them by the legs and once they are down you fill em full of stab wounds

@Hank When is "later" . Its 2023, deflecting hard attacks seem to be still impossible.

As the others have said, now it's 2024 and it still seems impossible. I swing the opposite direction with my arm, my weapon hits the skeletons sword and makes sparks and a metallic clank noise but then it swings through and hits me anyway.

Same problem here. I'm still stuck on that tutorial. I'm swinging my axe, I see it make contact and spark with the clank, and I get hit anyway. Very rarely it will properly deflect, with no changes to what I'm doing, and then it'll go right back to just phasing through the axe to hit me through the same motion that worked the last time.

May 19th 2024 and the deflecting still doesn't work 90% of the time. I'm clearly swinging my weapon at the enemy weapon when they attack, but it just goes through it and I get hit.

still? geez....this is like the ONE reason i wont play the game cuz it makes melee fighting unbearable...
