I'm not quite sure this snarky reply is warranted when plenty of other modern releases of games include an option to display the old graphics but play with the modern QOL gameplay. Unless you're bundling in the original Crystal Caves, this reply makes no sense.
It's a legitimate question, Duke3DWT, Monkey Island, even Halo remasters let you switch graphics with a single key press. I know it takes development time to implement, but in a 2D sprite-based game where all you did was add more colours to the existing sprites, you'd think it'd be a no-brainer to implement. Hell, you could probably do that with a screen-space shader for the most part.
So how moddable is the game going to be then? There's custom levels, that's great, but maybe it would be possible for someone to just mod custom sprites in?
DosBox with the original has a few things lost in translation, like the overscan borders, and Episode 3 has that game-breaking bug in the world map without my patch.
While I like the new visuals and would more than likely keep using them, the option being there would be helpful for those who haven't played the original and want to see what it looked like without the nauseatingly jittery 15fps of the original, prefer the higher contrast, or just are feeling nostalgic.
Also, I agree with Archie about the aspect ratio.
What a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ dismissive response. Seriously, what the hell. Even a "it wouldn't be worth our time to implement this feature" is better than "just play the old game lol."

A bunch of things in this remake have been improved upon the original, so I understand the wish to play it instead. My eyesight is fine, so I'm not sure why someone would like the original graphics instead, but I assume it's the higher contrast. I imagine it wouldn't be impossible to simply redraw the new sprites using the colours of the original ones and forfill the request in that way, so if enough people ask for it, maybe they would consider it? (This is a remake, built from the ground up, carefully comparing gameplay between the versions, no access to the original source code.)
But they're being disrespectful. I get being snarky and sweary and unprofessional. The devs I speak to love my candor. But I would NEVER disrespect a dev and the same should ring true for them to their playerbase. A flip dismissal is akin to a slap in the face and, where I come from, if you disrespect a body, that body is apt to put on boots, if you take the origin of the parlance.
You meant
"Hi! We don't feature the option to go back to the original graphics. The option you have for now is to play the original, and we may put this option in the future, who knows!
Thanks for your love for the game. I really hope you enjoy the remake!"
I really cannot understand why are you in charge of PR when you are obviously not capable of this and you have created animosity against the whole Apogee and devs of this game because of your attitude.
And, for the record, I'm still pissed about it.
